A workforce development nonprofit supports manufacturers across its state and works to close the skills gap in the trades. Its flagship program is an annual contest where middle school students partner with local manufacturers to produce mini-documentary videos about manufacturing careers.

Participation grew every year, and new regions joined, while training still ran on emails, meetings, and calls. The core team wanted to replace that manual system with a single digital resource that delivered the same training to all participants and set up the program for national expansion. 

Based on word of mouth and in-depth understanding of their unique needs, they chose rtCamp to build the guide from scratch.

Standardizing resources to keep the program consistent

The organization wanted every region equally prepared for contest day. Instead, contest rules, video production best practices, and compliance forms reached participants through scattered emails, meetings, and calls. Readiness varied by region, and the support inbox filled with questions the materials should have answered.

To centralize contest knowledge, rtCamp built a sequential learning path via LearnDash LMS on WordPress. It met most program requirements out of the box with step-by-step instructions and demonstration videos while leaving room to add custom features. The content took shape as two courses and two informational areas:

Balancing national standards with regional autonomy

The organization needed one platform to deliver a consistent national curriculum while regional coordinators managed their own local content and dates.

Removing the onboarding bottleneck

Onboarding thousands of new students and teachers every year sat with the organization’s small core team. Left manual, it would have slowed the system the team had just built.

rtCamp extended LearnDash to move user management out to the regions. Custom bulk import and assignment tools let the regional organizers onboard their participants without touching site administration. Custom login blocks completed the flow by routing each user straight to their region’s training.

The routing removed a common point of confusion for first-time participants and let governance scale alongside content.

A two-week launch

The full platform, from architecture and content population to theming and LearnDash configuration, launched in a two-week sprint, delivered by rtCamp working in a modular, cost-controlled build.

After the live demo, training session, internal QA, and user acceptance testing, the platform went live. rtCamp ran hypercare support through the transition to catch issues before they reached participants.

The new interactive training guide transformed the client operational process from reactive and manual to an efficient, self-service model, securing its mission’s future. 

The centralized platform, with regional flexibility, bulk user management, and non-technical control, guarantees training consistency and eliminates administrative bottlenecks.
